Cadillac Escalade iQL: The Upcoming Long-Wheelbase Luxury Behemoth
Cadillac enthusiasts, get ready to enjoy new glory on the road! The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ electric SUV is already a symbol of luxury and power, and it will welcome a long wheelbase model – the Escalade IQL. This news was initially reported by Car and Driver and has now been confirmed by a spokesperson for the Cadillac Automobile Authority, sparking excitement among luxury SUV enthusiasts.
The Design and Specifications of Escalade IQL
The Escalade IQL is expected to remain consistent in design with the current long wheelbase Escalade ESV, with a stretched section in the middle to provide greater space in the rear two rows of seats and cargo area. The standard Escalade IQ itself is a giant, measuring 224.3 inches in length, 76.1 inches in height, 94.1 inches in width, and with a wheelbase of 136.2 inches. This makes its wheelbase about two inches larger than the internal combustion engine Escalade ESV, although its total length is slightly three inches shorter.
The impressive specifications of Escalade IQ include up to 750 horsepower and 785 pound feet of torque from a dual motor all wheel drive powertrain, capable of increasing SUV speed to 60 miles per hour in approximately five seconds. It is also equipped with an Ultium 24 module, a battery pack of over 200 kWh, shared with GMC Hummer electric pickup trucks, and according to Cadillac, its range may reach 450 miles. The Escalade IQ even includes a feature similar to the Hummer electric car Crab Walk, aptly named Cadillac Arrivals.
The Future and Challenges of Cadillac’s Electric Lineup
Although Escalade IQ will begin delivery this summer, Escalade IQL will also follow closely, although no specific timeline has been provided. Cadillac has hinted that more information is about to be released, and we look forward to the latest news from this luxury giant. IQL is expected to retain the same styling elements as the standard model and provide greater space and comfort for passengers and cargo.
Cadillac’s electric lineup does not stop at the Cadillac IQ and IQL. The brand is still developing smaller Optiq and Vistiq SUVs, as well as the Celestiq flagship sedan. However, the launch of these models may be affected by the production capacity increase challenges faced by General Motors’ 2023 Ultium electric vehicle.
Escalade IQL will share the Ultium EV platform with standard models, featuring a high-voltage architecture that supports 400 volt and 800 volt charging systems. The platform has impressive charging capabilities, increasing the range by 100 miles in just 10 minutes. Although the larger battery pack in the standard model provides impressive range, the extended wheelbase version may be slightly reduced due to increased weight.
With the arrival of the Cadillac Escalade IQL, Cadillac will redefine the concept of spaciousness and luxury. The extended version of Escalade IQ is not just about size; It aims to provide unparalleled comfort, performance, and electrical efficiency experience. As we wait for more details, one thing is clear: the future of luxury SUVs is electric, bigger than life.
